Now, my issue is this. I understand that since your flights are cheaper and you are either trying to recover some of that money by charging bag fees or with the fuel prices you need that money for fuel, but for goodness sake you need to be more stricter about then the option of carry on luggage.
I was under the impression and carryon luggage was one bag that was of the standard size that you see on those signs at the airport and a personal item, like a purse for woman or laptop for men. I even heard on several occasions your attendants announce this “Rule” before boarding
the flight. However I saw numerous people with huge carry ons roll bags AS WELL as a back pack that was full, plus their purse or laptop (one lady I saw claimed her bag was her purse but it was bigger than my carry on). The issue I see is that many people who are trying to avoid paying that extra baggage fee are packing all their holiday supplies into two small cases and then passing them off as their two allowed items. This of course created much chaos with people trying to board and quickly room running out as the overhead compartments were full.
By the time some people were boarding there was not room left at all. On one flight I noticed that there was no room left and only half the passengers were on. Out of the flight different flights we took there are back only one wasn't a full flight but it still created much confusion and anger for a lot of people. I felt sorry for the flight attendants having to deal with the influx of anger due to no more room.
I remember a time where if your carry on bag was larger then the recommended size and weight you MUST check it in regardless.. if you are going to charge people extra for their check in luggage then you should be more strict on those people who try to avoid the fee by packing all their holiday luggage into two carry ons. Or remove the fee altogether.. it would make for a more comfortable flight for everyone
