Who am I..
Welcome to my personal finance and weight loss blog.
I decided to create this site for two reasons. I am about 100 pounds overweight and almost $10,000 in debt (not including the mortgage) and frankly this shouldn't be. I haven't been this heavy or in this much in debt in my whole life. I am tired of being the fat girl. Tired of living pay cheque to pay cheque. Just tired of it
So why this site. Well its free (hey I am trying to save money) but also its where I can keep my goals and thoughts in the one place. Someone once told me that the best way to achieve what you want is to first write them down and journal how you got there. Its creates and keeps the motivation. So this is going to be it. Also I think (I have learnt this over the years) that when things get to rough getting out of your system and writing them down is the best way see how to fix it. Or at least get over it :) look for a solution instead of focusing on the problem.
So who am I? Well, in a nut shell
- I am a 30 something old female
- Currently I am living in Vancouver Canada. I moved here a few years ago from Australia. As of December 2013, i am a Permanent Resident of Canada
- I work full time at a job that i love and have a number of hobbies, which include crafts, my threatre group, scrapbooking, movies, live music and traveling
- I have a boyfriend who I have been for over 8 years and we currently live together.
- No children.
So basically this is it.. my blog.. about my quest to not only be debt free but skinnier and healthier.. trimming the fat so to speak.. both off my body and wallet. Feel free to comment on anything or ask me a question..

How did this all start?
Well.. this came together after a series of events really brought everything into perspective.
I wasn't always a big girl. In fact in my 20's I was a size 10-12 and living a very healthy active lifestyle. Then due to some personal issues I wont go into I ballooned into the size I am now. And over time I lost weight and gained it back.
Same with my finances. I mean I always had small loans for whatever reason but was paying if off. Then I moved to Vancouver and met my boyfriend. Then some personal issues came up (He was out of work for over a year due to injury) and before I knew it our small debt became almost $10k. Mainly because of stupid spending and our love for credit (i admit i was no angel but he was worse).
It all came in perspective in 2009 when I had started having knee trouble, which my doctor attributed to being overweight.. then in early 2010 I had my gall bladder removed in emergency surgery after gall stones (which I didn't know I had until it was to late) became infected and caused a great deal of pain. So much I was hospitalized for 2 days before the surgery. Again the doctor attributed to the bad diet and being overweight..
In relation to money I wanted to go home to visit family and friends. Saving for that has proven difficult at times due to unexpected bills and other payments with no emergency funds, and our love of spending on Credit. Then my bf informed me that he would love to go to Cuba for a week, which frankly is a good idea, but the question came up.. how are we going to pay for it. We have bills and little savings...
So no more. I decided its time to grow up. Don't get me wrong I was always happy with myself. No matter how big or small I am. BUT my health does come first and I need to do this if I plan to be healthy for myself and my eventual family I plan to have. And the same with money. I want all these debts off my back and start saving for more travel as well as future investments like RSP's.
So I started reading and researching and came across many sites and blogs of people doing the same thing and I got one sense from them all. By blogging their progress they seem to do better. Like journaling to keep yourself motivated.. its like the same thing but on a much larger scale. So I figured if they can do it.. why can't I.
So here I am.. and here I GO
