Jotting down everything

My goal this month has been to make sure I log down and account for EVERYTHING I eat and drink.  Today marks the end of the first week I started doing it.  And I have to say its has been a bit surprising.  My average over the last 7 days was about 2100 calories.  I tried to stick to between 1800 and 2000 calories a day.  Some days more some days less.  I even made sure I made a huge effort to writing down things I eat on the weekends (which is where I move off path).  For example some days I was write on target.  Others days, like yesterday, I was way over.  Like 3000 calories.  I decided to keep a log of food/drink to identify patterns and see where I can improve.  Generally I have noticed as well that I do great when I focus on what I am eating and drink and then when I don't care (like yesterday) it goes straight up.

Its going to take some time to get it to a point where I feel more happy with things but at least its a start.  Which really is sometimes the hardest part.  I am going to try and keep this going.  I need to look at it like my bank account.  I have 2000 in there every day.  When its spent its spent, BUT I can't let myself get hungry either because that just sets me up for failure.  Need to start looking harder in the less calorie, more feeling meals.

All these things just to loose weight.. but like the saying goes "nothing good is easy, otherwise everyone would be doing it

Counting calories is a great thing. Good for you ! I lost weight a few years ago and found it really helped. Don't be too hard on yourself, it's hard for everyone. I found that once I started eating healthier, at first I was hungry (craving the fats) but eating whole grains, and lots of protein really helped me to stay full longer.
