Gym assessment and major purchase.. but not related :)

Well a lot has happened since the last time I wrote on this blog.. I am still going to the gym and still trying as much to eat healthy.  Not sure if I have lost any weight.. won’t be weighing myself for at least another week..

So two major things happened over the past couple of weeks..

One.. started off by getting my assessment for the gym.  And as one suspected.. im a fatty.. (but I am ok with that).. I had to weigh myself for that assessment but it was the same as before.. so no gain or loss.. but as suspected my body percentage is very high for me.  However he did say my heart rate and blood pressure where excellent considering my text book obesity.  (I seem to get that a lot).. but having the assessment was a good start.  I have something to work towards.. we chatted about my fitness goals and when I said one of my goals is to survive the apocalypse he laughed (even though I had a straight face teehee) and I pointed out that I am a fan of horror movies, zombie movies in general and being fit and strong will help with survival..  he then pointed out that was actually not a bad goal and if it adheres to your favourite genre of movies then why not… its motivation.  So there you have it.. something to work towards.. so I have an awesome idea for a motivation book to draw up.. based on weight loss, toning up and surviving the end of the world J

The second major thing was the loss of our car.. some idiot ran a stop sign and plowed into the side of our car basically writing it off by the insurance company.. I was so dam pissed off about that.. thankfully the BF is fine and no injury but at the same time.. WTF.. after some negotiating with the insurance company we ended up getting just close to $1400.00 for the car.. (original they were going to offer half of that.. I don’t think so…) anyway.. thankfully the BF’s dad lent us his car as he was away until we can decide what we wanted.. on the weekend we spent time looking at used cars and new cars and assessing our options.. we discussed things for a good day and went over our budget and came to the conclusion that a new car was a better option for us..

So we got a new car.. WOOOOO
picked it up last night.. little Mitsubishi Mirage.. small little putt putt car.. great on gas and perfect for our needs.. maunal, great warranty and features and really not a bad monthly payment (250 a month) over 6 years at 0% finance.  The car dealership has a promotion where they pay the first two months of payment and the money we received from the insurance company will pay for the first 5 months of payments.  So we are good on our budget until well into next year.. all in all it just worked better for us.. and of course we are excited to get a new car.. never had a new car before.. never one with power windows.. I feel like such a grownup..

I know I wanted to get out of debt but things are looking good on the budget end.. should be able to pay another card off next month and then focusing on the last card and line of credit.. really for the pros of getting a new car it was worth it for us.. we needed a car.. I am not making excuses as I am happy with our purchase and plan..

One other thing regarding the gym

For the month of October I am not going to weigh myself.. I have focused to much on the number on the scale of late and it keeps going up and down and I am finding myself weighing myself every day.. and getting upset when it doesn't go down.. and I have been up and down (by 1 or 2) every day..

So for October I am not weighing myself at all until October 31.. I weighed myself when I got up on October 1 and was 236.00.  I am hoping to loose 10 pounds in the month.. so we shall see on October 31 as I don't plan to weigh myself until the end of the month..

4 week gym check in

So I have been signed up as a member for the gym for about 4 weeks now.. close to a month.  In the month of September I went a total of 10 times.  That’s pretty good for me..  Worked my ass off each time to.. no half ass’ing.. We even did a couple of interval classes to.    Also since going to the gym the BF and I have cut out a lot of junk food and eating much more healthy stuff and drinking a lot more water.  We still indulge of course but not as often as before and only as a treat.  I am cooking more things from scratch and have a great time doing it.  The Food Network has lit a fire under my ass.. hahaha.
Since going to the gym for the past couple of weeks I have noticed small changes with myself.  Small but I can notice them.  For example I have noticed that my clothes feel looser.. not overly big but I can feel them hang more than before.  My butt seems to have lifted slightly… Squats don’t hurt as much.. even going all the way to the ground.. and my chicken wing (arm flaps) are smaller.. this is very noticeable.  Super excited about that..

I have also noticed that since drinking so much more water now my skin is amazing and I have had compliments from people that I look younger.. also I am sleeping much better at night.

I have also noticed changes in the BF as well.  He is toning up and sleeping better… so its working for both of us.

I haven’t lost much in the way of the scale so I have a feeling my calorie intake is still a little high.. going to work on that one next.. but I don’t want to focus so much on the scale and more on how I feel and how my body feels.  And So far its feeling good.

The BF and I sat down with our calendars and penned in days we will be going to the gym.. which is a big step for us cause we were never like that.. I am still hopeful that this won’t fade and we will continue with this.. I know us and we tend to drop things when things get busy.  But i

t helps having a partner that has the same goals as me.

Next steps is to go through all my recipes and cookbooks and start making a recipe binder.  This will help us meal plan better, save money and ensure I will be getting enough food.. and also so I can cook things better and learn new things to cook..

That’s my goal for this weekend..
