Yesterday me and the BF decided to hop across the boarder to do a little shopping. We could have waiting and gone down for the black Friday sales but I would rather have my sanity (no offence my USA readers/friends.. you guys are nuts sometimes teehee)
Both me and the BF needed new runners and we decided to head up to Safeway and get some thanksgiving day sales (as well as use our Safeway club card, which works in the states as well as Canada).
We got really good deals on the runners. Both of us got runners at 1/2 price off. Me getting a pair of Shape Ups for $45. The BF's runners cost $50.00 so we were pretty happy with that. As well as the fact that my runners are meant to help me shape my butt..
We spent a little more money then we hoped to spend in Safeway but we got some amazing deals and stocked up on a few items we regularly use. I was careful to keep an eye on prices of things like toilet paper, deodorant, dental stuff etc as I can get better deals with them using coupons up here in Vancouver. But we still got a lot of stuff. The total value was just over $300.00 and we paid $201.12 after Safeway Store club card deals. And because we spend over $200 after the card we got a free frozen turkey, as part of their store sale (worth over $24.00) We are giving that to the BF's parents for Christmas dinner as its way to big for the two of us. That will help them save money on Christmas lunch to.
We stocked up on drinks, frozens, canned goods, chips and pasta. All the things we use. So for the next couple of months I think we will have enough stuff to keep us going and only getting fresh food (like bread, milk, fruit and veg).
I made a deal with the BF that if we just spend the grocery budget on fresh stuff and put the rest towards debt repayment, during the January sales we can each buy ourselves something as a reward for saving so much. He seemed to be keen on that.
So hence why I said we spent money to save money. But again only if we don't go stupid and spend it stupidly on something else (besides the reward). I checked my figures today and our debts have reached under the $10k mark. The plan IS working and going strong. Now to fix the weight loss plan and get that working better. One thing at a time I guess
